NOTICE, WARNING and CAUTION

Notice/warning/ caution merupakan teks singkat yang berisi larangan atau peringatan. Peringatan atau larangan tersebut harus mudah dipahami dan mudah dibaca. Oleh karena itu, peringatan atau larangan selalu menggunakan kata-kata yang sederhana serta ditulis dengan jenis huruf (font) yang sederhana dan dengan ukuran besar baik berupa gambar atau tulisan.

Notice merupakan sebuah rambu-rambu dan biasanya ditulis dengan kalimat dan bahasa yang sederhana. Ukuran huruf pun juga di perhatikan dalam penulisan sebuah notice.



Warning merupakan sebuah bentuk peringatan yang biasanya di tempel atau diletak kan di tempat-tempat umum, warning selalu berkaitan dengan sesuatu yang sangat berbahaya dan akan mendapatkan resiko bagi pelanggarnya.






Caution juga merupakan sebuah peringatan atau larangan yang hampir sama dengan warning namun akibat yang dihasilkan apabila melanggar tidaklah sefatal warning. Biasanya caution berupa rambu-rambu lalu lintas yang ada di jalan.

DESCRIPTIVE

Descriptive text
Teks descriptive adalah teks yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan suatu benda, tempat, atau orang tertentu.

Struktur teks descriptive:

1.      Identification (identifikasi): pendahuluan tentang apa dan siapa yang akan dideskripsi­kan.
2.  Description (deskripsi): berisi ciri-ciri khusus yang dimiliki benda, tempat, atau orang yang dideskripsikan.

Ciri-ciri teks descriptive:


1.      Menggunakan the simple present tense

2.      Menggunakan attribute verb, seperti be (am, is, are)

eXAMPLE:

My house is on Jalan Kartini. It is big and nice.
It has two floors. It has a living room, a small kitchen and a bathroom on the first floor. On the second floor there are three bedrooms and a bathroom. My parents' bedroom is big. My brother's room is next to my room. My room is small but I like it.
It has light green wall. There is a desk with a computer on it. I do homework there. There is also a nice garden in front of my house and I often play in the garden. We love our house.

NARRATIVE



NARRATIVE TEXT


Teks yang menceritakan sesuatu yang imajinatif atau khayalan belaka.

Struktur teks narrative:

1.       Orientation (pendahuluan cerita): memper­kenalkan tokoh-tokoh dalam cerita, latar, dan waktu.
2.       Complication: munculnya permasalahan di antara tokoh-tokoh tersebut.
3.       Resolution: masalah dapat diatasi.
4.       Re-orientation  (opsional, kesimpulan tentang nilai moral dari cerita).

Ciri-ciri teks narrative:

Ø  Menggunakan past tenses,
Ø  Biasanya dimulai dengan adverbs of time (kata keterangan waktu) seperti long time ago, once upon a time, in a faraway land,
Ø  Menggunakan kata hubung (conjunction), seperti then, after that, before.

EXAMPLE:
The Farmer and the Beet
        Once upon a time, a farmer planted a beet. The beet grew and grew.
One day the farmer pulled on the beet, but the beet did not come up. "Horse, please help me pull up this beet. I want to eat it for dinner," said the farmer. "Sure, I'll help you," said the horse. But the beet did not come up.
Then the farmer went to the cow. "Dear cow, please help me pull up this beet. I want to eat it for dinner," said the farmer. "Sure, I'll help," said the cow. But the beet did not come up. So the farmer went to a goat. "My lovely goat, please help me pull up this beet. I want to eat it for dinner," said the farmer. "Sure, I'll help," said the goat. But the beet did not come up.
        Next the farmer went to the cat. "Oh my dear cat, please help me pull up this beet. I want to eat it for dinner," said the farmer. "Sure, I'll help," said the cat. But again the beet did not come up. So the farmer went to the mouse. "Lovely mouse, please help me pull up this beet," said the farmer. "Sure, I'll help," said the mouse. So the mouse pulled on the cat. The cat pulled on the goat, and the goat pulled on the cow.

        The cow pulled on the horse, the horse pulled on thefarmer, and the farmer pulled on the beet. And the beet came up! "Thank you, horse. Thank you cow Thank you, goat, Thank you, cat. And thank you mouse!" said the farmer. "Now we can all eat dinner and they did.
